Sweet Opoponax, also known as red myrrh, or sweet myrrh, product of Kenya.
A cousin of myrrh (Commiphora myrra), opoponax, what is commonly known as sweet myrrh, is a natural oleo-gum-resin with a unique warm-balsamic, sweet, and honey-like aroma. The resin has been an acclaimed component of incense and perfumes since Biblical times. It has a dark red color and is often burned to release its calming and earthy scent.
Harvested like frankincense and "bitter" myrrh (that is, by scarring the tree and collecting the resin), opoponax can be used in all applications where bitter myrrh would be used - in consecration, purification, and other applications involving incense or oils. You can also use opoponax in perfumery as a fixative,
