Hermes, the son of Zeus and nymph Maia, daughter of Titan Atlas, was known as the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. With his winged sandals, he could easily travel between the realms of gods and humans. He was also revered as the protector of shepherds, thieves, travelers, merchants, and the guide for souls to the underworld. The winged helmet, known as the Helm of Hades or cap of invisibility, was crafted by the cyclops and bestowed upon Hades as a gift from Zeus for their release from Tartarus. This helmet aided many gods and demigods, such as Athena and Perseus, in their personal quests.
