Our Reiki Program
The Reiki Program in the Evenstar Institute is focused on building a community of Reiki practitioners. We use team-teaching and peer learning in our classes and in 2020 we began offering Reiki classes online. In 2021 we are moving forward with both online and in-person classes.

Reiki Level 1
In most cases, this is a person’s first experience in being attuned to the flow of Reiki. The class is centered on the attunement process that will connect you directly with the flow of Reiki. It will open the channels for you to act as a conduit. Therefore, the focus for this level is to integrate these energies (physically, emotionally, spiritually); focus on self-healing and balancing one’s own energy body, and enhancing one’s intuitive perception.

Reiki Level 2
The attunements for Reiki 2 will help refine and “widen” your energy channels, giving you access to more “amperage.” The learning focus for this level is to work with the Reiki symbols directly – learning their functions and applications; learn how to use Reiki for distance healing; and to practice doing Reiki treatments on others.

Reiki Level 3 Master (RM)
Like level 2, the Reiki 3 attunements continue to refine and amp up your ability to channel the Reiki energy. This level is heavy on practice and deepening into one’s nuanced dance with energy work. There is also focus on the psycho-spiritual development of the Reiki Master practitioner. In Reiki 3, we practice a peer-learning model on our path to mastery.

Reiki for Kids!
Reiki for Kids!
Reiki is a beautiful system for accessing life force energy that can be an invaluable aid for kids in this high-stress, chaotic world. In this class, they will be connected with this energy, and shown how to use it for self-healing, self-soothing and self-knowing. They will also be learning ways of using Reiki to connect with love to other Beings in their environments – people, animals, plants, etc.
They will be learning:
- ways to help manage and protect their own energy,
- how to use Reiki to help with their emotional regulation,
- how to use Reiki to develop their intuitive skills,
- and the importance of consent in energy exchange (getting/giving permission, knowing when Reiki is appropriate for a situation.)
This beginner Reiki class is geared toward older kids, approximate age range 7-12. They will receive the level 1 attunements for Usui Reiki, a printed manual, and a certificate upon completion.
We are managing our Reiki for Kids differently from our other Reiki Classes. In this case, we ask that parents purchase a Reiki for Kids course in which up to 6 children participate. In this way, you can pool with other parents if you wish. We will provide two teachers, the space (if needed) and materials. Class dates will be coordinated between the teachers and the parents. This course is best if delivered in 3 2-hour classes over a 3-week period - although that can be adjusted if scheduling proves too tricky.

Jessica Kilbourn, MLS, LMT, CEOLD, RMT
Jess has studied, practiced, and shared her love of Reiki since 1996. Also in the toolbox: Massage Therapist, Bodyworker, part-time lecturer in the Women's and Gender Studies Department at Eastern Michigan University, certified End-of-Life Doula, and Reiki Master Teacher. Janet Vecchio, MA, MSB, RMT
Janet is a Reiki Master Teacher who enjoys sharing her gifts with friends, family, clients, and students. She discovered energy work when her life took a new path following a career in the corporate world. Janet continues to learn and grow in various areas of energy work, seeking to know herself and all we are connected with more deeply.
Cindy Guillean, RMT
Cindy Guillean has been sharing the magic of writing and self-expression with others for more than 30 years. She is a teacher, learner, seeker, writer, Reiki Master, Cognitive Coach, National Writing Project Fellow and an awakening soul.
