Echols, Damien. Angels & Archangels: A Magician's Guide. Foreword by John Michael Greer. Boulder, Colorado: Sounds True, 2020.

9781683643265;

"Damien Echols' High Magick introduced readers to the practices of ceremonial magick that saved his life on death row. The ceremonies presented in that book rely heavily on the invocation of angels. His own practice became effective, he says, only after he established a connection to these "divine intelligences." The host of angels, each with its own particular qualities, are always on call for us, like a program installed in the collective hard drive just waiting for us to hit "execute."

Foreword by John Michael Greer

Damien Echols (b. 1974) and two other young men were wrongfully convicted of murder in 1991, eventually becoming known as the West Memphis Three, who became the subject of two documentaries, leading to a re-examination of their case.  Their conviction was ruled wrongful and Echols was released in 2011.  While in prison, Echols was ordained into the Rinzai Zen Buddhist tradition.  He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Life After Death and Yours For Eternity (with his wife Lorri Davis) and other books on magic.
