Odin, the All Father in Norse mythology, was known for his two ravens Hugin and Munin who reported to him what they had seen in their travels. He was a god of war and warriors, and those who died in battle were said to join him in Valhalla. He was also a great magician and was linked to runes, as well as being the patron of poets.
